Layback Longboarders 2026 Winter Classic – and you’re welcome!
Saturday 4TH of July
the Layback Longboarders of Wollongong are celebrating our 34th year in 2026, and on Saturday 4th of July we are holding our annual Winter Classic competition at Bellambi, Wollongong! We’ve been surfing these local breaks as a club since 1992, and are the oldest longboard club in Wollongong.

We have fantastic waves around here, and many of our longboarders are national and some world class surfers, men and women.
​
The Winter Classic will have 5 longboard divisions (9 feet plus boards) and a reboot of a classic (details to come) as follows:
* Opens
* Ladies
* Over 40s
* Over 60s
* Old Mal
* Secret Division TBA

You can enter up to 2 divisions.
All competitors are required to judge, and we will have a professional judge in the tent all day to help maintain quality and consistency of judging.

​There’ll be a Seven Miles coffee barista on site all day, and lots of delicious baked goodies as well as our famous BBQ for bacon and egg rolls for brekkie, and pulled pork rolls for lunch and Laybacks goodies! With Fathers day not too far around the corner, ditch the socks and why not grab Dad some Laybacks Merch to make his day.
We'll be heading back to Bellambi Hotel for celebration beers and a great feed by Gilli. A lucky door raffle will be held for those present at the pub that night.

Laybackers pride themselves on aiming to maintain a polite, friendly vibe on shore and in the waves, which we reckon just goes without saying in longboarding.
We appreciate the wonderful surf heritage we are all part of and want to carry it forward in a positive way.
The Wollongong Chapter of the longboarding tribe has pretty strong roots around this beautiful part of the world…
